Storm out to sea
My meditation for today ~ an acrylic study of a storm out to sea.
This was the view I was greeted with on my walk this morning, still so humid from the rain last night and the early morning storm. I love watching storms and the menacing clouds that accompany them, but my family will attest that sometimes, the ‘boom, crash opera’ causes me anxiety.
There was a sailboat out to sea (you can see it hiding there on the horizon) and I said a quiet prayer for them, hopefully they were sailing away from the storm.
I actually painted a watercolour version of this painting first, but, as I was removing the masking fluid (a rubbery liquid used to keep the parts of your painting that you want to keep white) it pulled some of the paper off with it. Ouch! Not a complete disaster, just annoying. I think it’s salvageable, I’ll just turn it into a mixed media piece.
SO…I could have had my own little storm…but I knew that everything was going to be okay and promptly turned to my acrylic paints and started a new piece.
