Still Life With Lemons ~ Limited Edition Fine Art Print

The bonus of travelling and touring as a singer over the years has meant that I’m fortunate enough to sing in some amazing venues. One particular gig was at an old hotel in the Southern Highlands when I was there performing with Sancha and the Blue Gypsies

As we walked into the room, my eye caught a beautiful blue and white vase containing a bunch of luscious lemons sitting on the foyer table. I snapped a quick photo knowing that it would later provide inspiration for an artwork. As it turned out, I created two artworks!

I really love painting lemons and these were fabulous specimens. I rarely paint in black and white, but this subject matter was calling for a tonal study. I started out with washes of acrylic paint on Arches watercolour paper, then drew more detail into it with charcoal and white and grey pastels. I was so happy with the final artwork, I decided to enter it into the Hunter’s Hill Art Prize (2018). You can imagine how thrilled I was when I heard that it had been chosen to hang with the other finalists. I was even more ecstatic when I received a phone call to say that it had been sold.

As you can see from the photos, ‘Still Life with Lemons’ brings a calming presence to any room. It would look great framed with a black or natural timber frame depending on your décor.
