It’s time to Unfurl Your Wings - Thought of the Day
All in Words to Uplift
The Tuberose is one of my very favourite flowers mostly because of the exquisite perfume which is powerful enough to fill an entire room but also because of it’s soft understated colours. One would expect a flower with such a heady fragrance to be an extravagant colour.
Keeping this daily gratitude diary is changing me 🌸😊
Especially on days when sad or unexpected things happen…the simple act of finding three things that I can be grateful for brings my focus back to the positive✨ So simple but so powerful.
I can literally feel a wave of love washing into my soul.
'Joy comes to us in ordinary moments. We risk missing out when we get too busy chasing down the extraordinary.' ~
Brené Brown.
Over the weekend I was the guest speaker at a beautiful women’s breakfast event at Northside Church in Crows Nest, Sydney.
I spoke about Connection and creativity : Mindfulness for the New Year (photos to come)
It was really the first time I was able to bring my speaking, singing and artwork together at one event to share the stirrings of my soul. I began my talk with a Stillness Reflection that I had written one morning in January, I thought I’d include the reflection here as many women were asking if I could share it again.
“It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.” C.S Lewis
This makes so much sense to me…for it is when my mind is still and I am fully present I can hear the callings of my soul. In the last few months I have been intentionally setting times aside and silencing the outer distractions of life so that I can access my intuition while painting and journaling.
Having a little ritual has really helped this…
I stopped making new year’s resolutions a few years ago, I now set intentions because I find that these resonate more with my soul. This year I’ve made an intention to ‘live lighter’. Although there is a letting go of material possessions that no longer spark joy, the intention is more to live lighter emotionally.
There are many benefits in connecting with others, such as reduced stress levels, better mental and physical health, and even longevity.
