Over the years, perhaps the most important calling on Sancha’s life has been the encouragement that she has shown to many lives through her teaching and music. She has a loyal community of friends who she shares with through email. It’s Sancha, walking along side YOU. If you’d like to join this community you can join in here.
Sancha started singing professionally as soon as she left high school. She sang on the Sydney Showboat, was a soloist for many prominent corporate events, and was the lead vocalist for jazz/swing big bands performing at live venues and festivals around Sydney. She sang on cruise ships, performed on live TV, recorded jingles for radio ads and backing vocal recording sessions for countless artists. Her love of gospel music took her to the USA in her 20’s where she toured with her first independent release.
Never wanting to be pigeon- holed into one ‘style’ of music and blessed with a voice that can transcend different genres, Sancha is best described as a vocal technician who blends the sensibility of swing, the honesty of folk and the passion of gospel.
She is a storyteller at heart, a gifted communicator with crystal clear diction who exudes class and a refreshing realness and authenticity. She engages her audience with shared real life stories and an achingly soulful voice that embodies years of experience.
Professionally Sancha has performed with the many of Australia’s finest musical talent ~ James Morrison, Kevin Hunt, Bill Risby, Doug Williams, Jeff Duff, Gary Daley, Wierner Friedrichs & his big band High Society, Dave Holmes, Andrew Massey, Pete Kohlhoff, Bill Kezelos, Mitch Farmer, Spike Mason, Andrew Oh, Steve Crain & of course her Blue Gypsies Marcus Holden, Stan Valacos & Garry Steel.
Sancha has been trained by arguably some of the best voice teachers in the world and has devoted the greater part of the last 18 years to studying vocal technique.
She has trained with Dave Stroud (Kelly Clarkson, Martina McBride, Adam Lambert, Justin Bieber) Greg Enriquez (Solange Knowles, Tommy Hilfiger Britney Spears...Baby One more time tour, Creation du Dragon (Celine Dion), to Mystere & Zumanity (Cirque de Soleil) Wendy Parr (Sara Bareilles, Regina Spektor & A Great Bg World) Dean Kaelin (David Archuleta) John Henny (Britney Spears, Cody Simpson, Colbie Caillat) as well as Jeffrey Skouson, Spencer Welch & Kathy Kennedy.
As a result of her commitment to the highest standards of teaching, she was a much sought after vocal coach. For many years she was an Accredited teacher of Speech Level Singing (Founded by Seth Riggs who taught artists such as Michael Jackson & Barbra Streisand). She has taught hundreds of voice students many of whom have appeared on The Voice, X Factor and Australia’s Got Talent. Sancha has been a guest lecturer and tutor in Vocal Studies at Macquarie University, she has taught in prestigious private school in Sydney (MLC School & St Ignatius College, Riverview) has presented many vocal master classes in vocal technique and was most recently an Accredited Teacher with IVTOM (International Voice Teachers of Mix). She taught many professional singers and invested much time and care in training other voice teachers.
During the pandemic, it became clear to Sancha that the season of singing teaching was drawing to a close. So after 20+ wonderful years of teaching and encouraging singers young and old, she closed her singing teaching business.
Up until the pandemic hit, Sancha had been regularly performing around the country with her acoustic quartet “Sancha & the Blue Gypsies” at prominent live venues, folk & jazz clubs as well as house concerts & festivals.
Over the past 3 years, Sancha’s creative focus shifted back to her art making, bringing solace and joy to many others during long months of lockdown through free online workshops. This break, combined with a move to a beautifully peaceful corner of the Bouddi Peninsula on the NSW Central Coast, has given Sancha the space that she has needed to dream of new ways to combine her art and music.
Having recently completed her Prof Certificate in Holistic Wellness Coaching, Sancha is combining all aspects of her creative journey to help others dealing with stress, anxiety, burnout and physical exhaustion. Her passion is to support them through collaborative coaching to get back their creative groove so they can thrive physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Singing is Sancha’s first love and she is very much looking forward to sharing new musical offerings in 2024.
